  • What is TAFE?

    • The Texas Association of Future Educators or TAFE (pronounced "taffy") is a co-curricular statewide non-profit (501 c3) student organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. The organization was created in 1984 to provide the best and brightest high school and middle school students in Texas with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education.

  • Who can join TAFE?

    • Any 10th-12th grade Dobie student!

    • Strongly encouraged for those student who are:

      • Pursuing a career in education (Administration, Teacher, Counselor, Coach, Teacher Assistant, etc)

      • Pursuing a career working with children in some capacity (Pediatrician, pediatric nurse, school nurse, social worker, family lawyer, child psychologist, etc.)

    • TRAFLES is the framework TAFE uses to ensure every chapter has a well-rounded, successful program for future educators.

       

  • What does each TRAFLES stand for?

    • T - Teaching (Tutor and become a positive influence to younger children)

    • R - Recreation (Have fun with others who have similar career goals & make lifelong friends)

    • A - Appreciation (Join in teacher/staff appreciation activities to make a difference) 

    • F - Fundraising (Work together with your peers to raise funds to support our Dobie TAFE chapter)

    • L - Leadership (Compete or assist with region or state competitions, run for an officer position or assist/mentor a new member) 

    • E - Education Awareness (Learn and spread awareness on campus about educational issues, programs, and/or mythologies) 

    • S - Service ( Community Service! Connect with the community by addressing the needs of others)
